Coming up as a young amateur motocross racer, Cody Elkins dreamed of making it as a professional—and he almost got there, until he hit a metal ramp for the first time.
“Around Oklahoma I would run top-three as a local pro,” says the Kicker-sponsored rider, “but I just wasn’t quite fast enough to make into any of the supercrosses or nationals. So I would always throw tricks, and then I just went out and hit a metal ramp for the first time and never looked back.”
And it’s a good thing he didn’t look back, as Cody has had some great experiences in freestyle thus far.
“I won the Extreme Freestyle Moto X tour in Mexico,” he says of his biggest achievement to date. “I’ve traveled all over, which is a big accomplishment in itself.”
