Freestyle Motocross

Friday - 7:30 PM

The weather in Worcester was abnormally warm and it was even hotter when the action started on the arena floor!  The show started with the solo FMX qualifying which had Gary "G-Rob" Robertson, Casey Higgins, Shawn Conners, and Darrin Connet making the big show.  In between, Keith Wineland showed off his awesome trials skills on his Montesa and the "Hell on Wheels" BMX stunters got the crowd on their feet. The front flip off the sub box was definitely a highlight of the BMX show.

On to the finals!  Out first was G-Rob showing off his solid MX skills on the slick concrete. They allowed him to squeeze in an extra trick, which set him on the Toyota Trucks Hotseat first.  Next up was Casey Higgins taking the only fourstroke in the comp out for an incredible side saddle take-off to knarly whip which knocked G-Rob off the hotseat right away.  The scores only went up from there as Shawn Conners came out with the old school Sterilizer, sticking it on the shortest landing ramp on the floor.  The fourth and final rider to compete was Darin Connet wearing the chic "Jason" suit and only lacking the face mask.  His run was shaping up well until he ran into the tuff blocks at the end of the run. It wasn't enough to push Conners from the Toyota Trucks Hotseat, but Darin went ahead and gave the crowd a backflip for the ride home.  Shawn Conners proved that old school tricks done right can beat a flip anytime!

Finals

92.5 Shawn Conners

91.0 Casey Higgins

90.5 Darrin Connet

88.0 Gary Robertson

Saturday - 7:30 PM

The crowd went crazy in Worcester on Saturday night and the riders responded with an impressive run of tricks and even trying some new ones never seen before. It just goes to show, “If the crowd is loud-the riders respond!” The show started with qualifying sending the top riders into the final. The competition was tight with just eight points separating the ten riders, but the guys that made it were: Casey Higgins, Greg Hartman, Darin Connet, and Shawn Connors. Qualifying was followed by Moto-Trials rider Keith Wineland who amazed the crowd by bunny hopping me as I lay on the floor in addition to his other breath-taking feats. The boys from Hell on Wheels BMX Stunt Team satisfied with the “William Tell” (you are gonna have to see this!) and the perfectly executed front flip. In the finals, Greg Hartman went first after a disappointing Friday run and was happy to escape the evening unscathed. Next up was Casey Higgins who came out with the side-saddle take off and then followed with a one-handed take off from the ramp! Casey was trying to set trends in FMX early in the year. The rotation in the Toyota Trucks Hot Seat continued when Shawn “Redneck” Connors surprised everyone by coming out with no shirt, a big belt buckle, and a sweet mullet wig to start his run. He had a very clean run and the gap from first to third was only 4.1 points. Coming out last with the hard job of beating three great runs was Darrin Connet. He pulled of fabulous old school tricks but capped it off with a back flip that had the near capacity crowd on its feet. That was just enough to please the judges who awarded him the win and a spot in the Toyota Trucks Hot Seat. The crowd was so loud the riders showed their appreciation with all riders coming out for pandemonium encore! Thank You Worcester!! Final Results: Darrin Connet 94.0 Shawn Connors 93.1 Casey Higgins 92.2 Greg Hartman 89.0
