Freestyle Motocross

Saturday - 7:30 PM

Wow! What a great show and what a way to ring in the New Year.  First off I want to thank the crowd in SLC on behalf of the riders.  Everyone of the riders thought this was a great place to start the season.

We had a great lineup on the side with one of the best BMX demo's I have seen to date.  The boys from Hell on Wheels did a super job and pulled off some knarly tricks.  Check them out at Hellonwheels.com to find out when they will be through your town.

Geoff Aaron proved just why he owns Extreme Riding Entertainment by impressing the fans on his moto-trials bike.  Using the Redbull Playground, he went up and over every obstacle in his path and scared me REALLY bad.  I'd tell you how, but I guess you will just have to show up to see!

A top notch group of riders were in the FMX show.  We had the US Airforce Dosomethingamazing.com Head to Head competition which featured eight of the riders. The crowd did the judging and the final bracket turned into a backflip contest between Dustin Nowak from Resen Graphics and hometown favorite Sean Neilsen.  Neilsen took the win with a Heel Clicker flip thanks to the home town support.  He wanted me to thank you for him saying, "Performing in front of my friends, family and all of Utah really kept me riding through the pain."  Pain?  More on that.

Your Toyota Dealers final was led off by Kenny Bell who showcased the belly and did the Truffle Shuffle to get him into the hotseat.  Brian Foster went next and pushed Kenny out of the chair using the McMetz to get him there.  Not many riders attempt that trick which I considered one of the toughest to do.  Dustin Nowak got his bike upside down three times with some variations tossed in to bump Foster out.  Next up was Derek Burlew who came in off a long layoff to bust big tricks but not big enough to earn a seat in the chair.  Last out was the favorite Sean Nielsen.  He has some upside down too, and used them to his advantage to take the win.  Remeber I mentioned pain?  Sean took two wins tonight with a severly swollen and bruised wrist after a big time practice crash.  Fans- that is what you do to these guys with your enthusiasm.  YOU make them go big!

Check out www.freestylemotocrossonline.com and read up on my adventures on Coast to Coast, get signed up for the Cross Club so you get Inside Dirt in your email with news from Supercross, Monster Jam, Arenacross and of course- FMX!  I will see the folks in Layfette next week.  Until then-get your questions for me or the riders- just follow the link in Coast to Coast!
